The warm weather has arrived, and Paradox Sports is excited for a jammed packed summer of adventures! We have an incredible line up of events for this season, all of which you can find on the Paradox Calendar.
Here are our Top Ten picks:

1 Mt. Rainier Veterans Ascent*
July 1st- 7th:
Starting on Tuesday night at Second Ascent in Ballard, we will have a talk and a keg to kick off our Mt. Rainier attempt, the first Veteran adventure of the summer season. A small group of wounded, injured, or ill veterans will join seasoned volunteer leaders for an unforgettable ascent of this 14,411-foot volcano in Washington State. The proposed summit day will be the 4th of July as a commemorative moment for all those who have served this country.

2 Grand Teton Veterans Ascent*
July 12th – 16th:
This will mark our third annual trip to Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming as we join with legendary Exum Mountain Guides to attempt to summit with up to 12 wounded, injured, or ill veterans. After two days of expert instruction, the team will ascend to the shoulder camp and bivouac. The next day is an early rise and climb from 11,000ft to the 13,775ft summit either by the original Owen-Spalding route or the airy Exum route. They will end with a descent and long hike back to the trailhead.

3 Cooper’s Rock Climb-a-thon
July 19th:
Cooper’s Rock Climbing Guides is hosting a fundraiser climbing competition to benefit Paradox Sports and the Coopers Rock Foundation. It’s based on vertical feet and prizes will be awarded to men’s and women’s first place and the climber that raises the most money.

4 Colorado River Veterans Rafting Trip*
July 26th – 29th:
We are teaming up with Utah’s Splore to offer an incredible 4-day, 3-night rafting and whitewater experience down the mighty Colorado River. The team includes up to 10 wounded, injured, or ill veterans who will raft and Stand Up Paddle, as well as fish, on the calm water of Ruby and Horsethief Canyons and then experience the roaring rapids of Westwater Canyon.

5 Cranberry Wilderness Veterans Backpacking Trip*
August 21st – 25th:
Who wants to walk in the woods and camp under the stars? We are going cross country backpacking with a team of veterans on a 5-day, 4-night adaptive trip through Birthplace of Rivers in Cranberry Wilderness with the Sierra Club Military Outdoors program. This trip also serves to raise awareness about preserving this premier landscape through an initiative to make it a National Monument.

6 Grand Teton Adaptive Climbing Ascent
September 3rd – 6th:
We will partner with Exum Mountain Guides for our late summer adaptive climb of the 13,775 Grand Teton. We can’t get enough of this rugged granite mountain. The expedition will follow the same route as the Veteran trip, with an ascent to the shoulder to camp after two days of expert instruction, and a climb to the 13,775ft summit the following day. 7 Yosemite Veterans Rock Climbing*
September 9th – 12th:
For the second year in a row, up to 20 wounded, injured, or ill veterans will meet in the iconic Yosemite Valley in partnership with the Yosemite National Park Service and Delaware North Company. There will be variety of climbs and activities including yoga, hiking, and a land stewardship project. The team will commemorate September 11th with multiple rock climbs including the summits of Half Dome and El Capitan.

8 Paradox Rocks: Gunks and Shelf
October 3rd – 5th and October 10th – 12th:
Paradox Rocks is a legendary series of weekend gatherings in the Shawagunks, NY and Shelf Road, Cañon City, CO. Here, people with varying disabilities can rock climb during the day and gather around the campfire at night. World-class adaptive athletes and seasoned professional guides will provide instruction and equipment.

9 Adaptive Stand Up Paddle Boarding
June 27th & August 15th:
Paradox and Adaptive Adventures will be teaming up for two evenings of stand-up paddle boarding, socializing and community BBQ at Lagerman Reservoir, Longmont, CO! The event is free for adults and kids with physical or mental disabilities and their family members or close friends. Personal floatation devices and equipment provided.

10 Adaptive Climbing Club
May – December:
Paradox Sports and Adaptive Adventures team up for another season of Front Range Adaptive Climbing Club! Three nights a month, we will be at the following local climbing gyms: Boulder Rock Club (Boulder), Rock’n and Jam’n (Thornton), and Earth Treks (Golden). As an essential part of our adaptive climbing curriculum, this club offers people with varying disabilities, beginner or expert climber, the chance to explore, grow and connect with their community.
